Recently, I had a conversation with Matt K., one of the teachers at The Centre for Healing. Unlike prior interviews, we went more into my childhood, then the discovery of meditation, witnessing, and on into Self Realization. We then explored my more recent discovery of trauma still present post-awakening and the benefits of clearing and embodiment.

The Conversation (audio)

We plan a later chat on the further stages of enlightenment.

    Hi David,

    Hope you’re keeping well.

Very interesting stuff. Was thinking about how this somatic therapy sits on the human aspect thread as per Pierce’s multi dharma model.

Healing seems to have been more of an interest to me over the last couple of years and from what I read seems to be something that has to be dealt with sooner or later albeit allegedly much easier after the initial shift into self realisation.

I can also attest that dealing with emotional baggage and child related trauma stuff has only been possible here since having a basic abiding stillness/silence/presence in daily life. Before this, I don’t believe I could have faced and begin to process my own issues. Essentially they would have been ‘too close to home’ without the space that helps to look at this stuff in a detached way.

There is work to do and I was considering doing the course as well since nothing else appears to be shifting just now. Wondering if after the initial shift into self realisation does healing occur more naturally without specifically having to access and trigger historical trauma?

Yes. I also put it in the embodiment camp. In order to fully embody the shifts, there is usually some healing to do. It’s common for us to be abstracted into our higher nature for a time, then need to bring that down into the form to really live it.

With the right techniques, it’s more than possible to do some healing prior to awakening. For some, it’s needed to get the clarity for awakening. But yes, it does get easier when there’s more clarity and presence. We’re not so caught in it and can see it more as it is.

Certainly, the detached presence and essentially meditating 24/7 post-awakening can lead to lots of healing if we support it. And a lot of that will clear without going after anything specific. Simply because it’s inherent to heal when the opportunity arises.

However, some of our trauma is often hidden from ourselves as a coping strategy. This is no longer needed, but unless we take an active role in following the sensations, it won’t become conscious. This is where somatic work is valuable. We don’t have to relive the trauma, just allow the energy of it to come up and be processed.
