When I was young, the term “channeling” had a very specific meaning. It was allowing another entity to take over your body and speak through you. Entities like Seth, Ramtha, Abraham, and Jesus became well-known. Most channels go unconscious during the process.
There are several issues with this approach. For one, it is really hard on the physiology of the channel. Most had to stop. They’re breaking their integration of body, mind, and spirit, interfering with their evolution.
Second, divine beings would never take anyone’s autonomy like this, so they were only ever astral beings, even if they offered a fancy or holy name.
It was also difficult to verify that they were who they claimed to be. Some were clearly misrepresenting who they were. (And some channels were putting on an act, at least some of the time.)
More recently, the word channeling has taken on a broader meaning, of getting downloads or intuitive hits or reading the akashic records or flowing energy in various ways. Essentially, it means getting flows from deeper places than the mind.
The old meaning is now called trans-mediumship. This variation in meaning means it’s good to be clear on what someone means when they use the term channeling.
And always remember that the vessel always filters the quality of the information, however high the source. That includes this blog.
