The Akashic Field

The Akashic Field

book, libraryI’ve written before about the akashic field. Space, being structured in consciousness, has the quality of being an information field, expressing the intelligence moving through it. One way we can experience this is through something known as the akashic records. Another way is as memory or intuition.

The records are most prominent on the level where space is structured, the Vijnanamaya kosha (sheath). However, we commonly experience them as more like a library or a web of information. This is what I call personalization: the way the mind relates to the contents of subtle, structured content. Just as in the manifestation process, the mind gives it form and qualities so we can relate to it.

The records include every experience in all time by all beings in this universe. They store different levels of evolution on different floors, with different areas for different parts of the universe. And there are “keepers” who manage and protect the information.

This makes greater sense if we recognize that we’re experiencing from a perspective of unfolding linear time. From a deeper perspective, all of creation happened simultaneously (all at once). The records are a way to access this within our abilities. It is a form of memory, a remembering of what was experienced and discovered by all these souls. And yet, it’s also an experience of the Divine, of her own nature at every point, rather than something in the past or future. And yes, this includes the future, although there is still the element of free will that allows choice and variety in the details of how an experience will play out. So yes, it’s also fluid and adaptive.

There is also a close relationship between the records and karma (action). In the records, experiences are like sutras or threads. These are both memories and actions. Unresolved experiences are like hanging threads, seeking their resolution. When we resolve all the threads, that page is complete. We find resolution and wholeness.
