In this conversation, Riyaz Motan, Adyashanti, John Prendergast, and Johnathan Gustin explore the awakening journey with serious illness and facing our mortality.

Having been through a round of this myself, along with the premature death of my father, I could relate to the discussion. I’m grateful my challenge was not as intense, but it deeply informed my life.

This isn’t a light conversation with a happy ending. Rather, it’s an honest approach to being human and being OK with that.

quite touching, insightful and heartfelt. Love the thought that Life happens for us and not to us. Letting go of the non-essential , control and knowing is a spiritual practice and it’s easier to do when we look for the blessing and are available to What Is.
    Thanks!

One more thought – it is striking that 4 aware men who are deeply emerged in the healing arts didn’t explore or mention their health issues in systemic terms. I am pretty sure this would not be the case in the EU where systemic constellation work is more accepted and known. Riyaz did talk about healing with his ancestors so he did not ignore this connection. But I didn’t hear anyone talk about what/who their illness might have represented in their family system and any related trauma. In my opinion this isn’t a small oversight. Given their status in consciousness it would not be surprising the amount of personal, family and collective material they would unconsciously be influenced by. Bringing it to awareness they could affirm what they took on in love they gave back in love.

    1. Interesting point, Harrison. Of course, such things can be many-layered. What we “inherit” from our family, what we bring forward from prior lives, and how we respond to these dynamics and the circumstances of this life. The interconnections can be complex.

I’ve found a few things I’ve been working on like this. Especially for the big stuff, there can be many threads. And sometimes, only some of them are conscious. I recently found out about another contributor to my prior illness.
