When people describe emotions, some put them deeper than the mind. Like saying spirit, emotions, mind, body. And some put them shallower, like saying spirit, mind, emotions, body. I refer to the “energy” or emotional body as between the mental body and the physical body. Which is it?
Both are true and there is lots of overlap. If we explore this more deeply, we can understand emotions are a subjective way we experience our energy. Energy, and the chakras, run from the celestial (causal) level right up near the physical. Thus, we might label something an “emotion” that someone else uses other words for.
In the physical, we experience energy as sensations. Yet, the corresponding root chakra supports the existential emotions like shame and fear.
In the prana/ energy body next, we experience energy as common, flowing emotions and as energy movements.
In the mental body, we experience energy as thoughts. These can have an energetic component and emotional entanglements, but thoughts and emotions are distinct.
However, fiery emotions, like anger, can express from this energy centre. This is why suppressing anger suppresses our power.
In the heart, we experience energy as more universal feelings, like love and compassion. I refer to these as fine feelings rather than emotions. This is also where we “feel” intuition (although some relate more to “gut” feelings). Energy flows through structure and relationship on this level, what may be called sacred geometry.
At the throat, it’s more of an urge to express. This is the celestial or causal level. Here, were getting into vibration and flows of attention, so it shifts from “energy” to flow.
Fundamentally, energy comes from flows of attention and intention in consciousness. The noise and fog of our unresolved experiences held in the denser layers often obscures this. As these clear, it all becomes flavours of flow.
One flavour is a kind of thought. Another is an intuitive hit. Another is an emotion. Another is a fine feeling. This is the soup of life, all designed to give us a specific style of experience that we can add to the whole.
Being able to distinguish what we’re experiencing is a positive thing. However, it’s also useful to remember that it’s all just layers and flavours of experiencing the flow of ourselves, within ourselves.
