Some of you have asked me to do an audio book in my voice. There would be advantages to that, but I don’t have a controlled environment to record in, nor do I have the skills to talk cleanly for long periods. This leads to a LOT of editing and a big time sink. I prefer to focus on the other books underway.
Amazon invited me into their program for converting Kindle ebooks into audiobooks with a digital voice. The quality of these voices has gone up quite a bit since my test with Polly 6 years ago.
If you’re less of a reader and more a listener or like to listen while commuting or exercising, this may be for you. It’s not my voice, but it’s an option.
In the preview, the voice did well with English and some common Sanskrit terms. It even got my pen name right. But it pronounces a few non-English words poorly. Yet it seems obvious what they mean, as I often explain or include an English equivalent too.
I welcome feedback.

This is great, David. How are you doing on the other books underway? Looking forward to reading them when they are published.
Well, the book on the Yoga Sutra is about half edited. The book on the levels of creation needs a bit more…
Congrats David and eagerly awaiting your other books too!!
Thanks, Dara!
