Podcasting

podcasting After a failed experiment with text-to-speech automation, I decided to tackle podcasting (spoken) articles. This has taken exploration and setup to work out recording, hosting, and distribution services. But it brings the articles to another market and supports “readers” who are better able or more inclined to listen.

The player, along with a download link will usually show at the bottom of articles.

On the website, you’ll see the purple mic Subscribe icon with the other subscribe buttons on the right. You can subscribe through iTunes (Apple), Google, Android, email, RSS, or your favorite podcast tool.

I’ve added a new Subscribe tab to list all the site subscription options.

I’ve updated older posts that had audio versions with the new platform, including the SAND talks and BATGAP interviews. You can access those through links on the Media tab as usual, or from the new Podcast category.

Thanks for your patience while I launch a new era for the blog. I’m sure the quality of the podcasts will improve over time. 🙂

Update: this project turned out to take way too much time and didn’t develop the audience much. I wound it down at the end of 2019.

    1. Thanks, Joseph.
It’s a hunk of work but does have the potential to reach other audiences. We’ll see what it does to posting schedules. I have another article ready and the podcast recorded but it’s not quite ready to post. Off to a retreat this weekend so it will be a few days…

🙂 Yeah – they fill up months in advance. There is occasional cancels but often a waiting list too. I think this one was full 6 mo ago.

Thanks. The words themselves are less important. They’re like a carrier wave for something deeper.

    Hi David,

Have you considered uploading the audio versions of the articles (podcasts) to YouTube? I’ve noticed that many podcasts out there now do that. It would be another platform that could bring the articles to “readers” that may not have otherwise found them. Generally the podcasts I’ve noticed doing this just upload the audio file and have the podcast logo image as the “graphic” for the video.

    All the best
