Receiving

Receiving

gaining knowledgeWe all have various pathways for gaining knowledge. This includes our senses, our subtle senses (clairs), intuition, instinct, feeling, and forms of cognition

Similar to our dominant sense, we each have pathways we’re optimized for. However, sometimes that pathway isn’t open for us. For example, life might optimize us for feeling, but when we were young, we didn’t know how to process the feelings around us and learned to suppress them. Or instinct is primary, but we’ve coped by ignoring the body. Or our subtle senses are undeveloped and in shadow for similar reasons.

You may think you already know, but I’ve discovered it may not be as clear-cut as it seems. I’ve mentioned that my dominant sense is visual, but thought my prominent input was inner cognition. That sequence was right, but it turned out I’d suppressed my actual primary pathway. This discovery was a little scary, but also empowering.

Key is smooth flow, being receptive. We want to be open, curious, and flexible. Expectations and our unresolved history can interfere.

I’ve also observed that people who are supportive givers are often self-dismissive and have trouble receiving. This also interferes with receiving knowledge. We have such potential when we discover who we are, how we’re built, and what we have to offer.
