Periodically on this blog, I’ve mentioned that there are groups today doing Yagyas of unprecedented size in the modern age. Yagyas are an ancient science of procedures used to create specific effects. The greater the repetitions of the procedure or size, properly done, the greater the effect.
At the beginning of June this year, an over 50 year project to do a “Lalita Sahasranama Maha Maha Yajnam” will compete in Georgia, USA. That setting was chosen to help ease the pain of women.
“The Maha Maha Yajnam is being performed to celebrate the completion of 2 billion recitations of the Sri Lalita Sahasranama, a feat that took over 50 years to accomplish—-it is simply not possible to repeat such an undertaking again in this lifetime.”

Lalitha Sahasranama is a text from Brahmanda Purana, the history of the universe. “Lalitha” means “She Who Plays”. It contains the thousand names of the Divine Mother. It doesn’t repeat itself and yet maintains the meter throughout. In other words, it’s very artfully constructed.
“Worshipping Divine Mother through the recitation of the powerful bijaksharas in the Lalita Sahasranama destroys all misfortunes and bondages. It blesses us with the ashtaisvaryas —the eight divine, treasure-like qualities. Puja and Homa performed with Sri Lalita Sahasranama has the power to heal the earth, prevent natural disasters, eliminate global radiation, bring timely rainfalls and abundant crops, prevent the suffering caused by war and bring about universal peace.”
