Time is a Perspective

I’ve spoken before about how the experience of time is an effect of the process of experience. This is the most abstract part of the dynamics of self-aware consciousness and perhaps the least obvious. In any experience we can see there is a subject and an object and we can recognize sensing the object but the process of experience behind sensing is more subtle. Yet when we change the experiencer’s relationship with experiencing, our experience of time changes. The most obvious example is how time seems to slow down when we’re bored and have to wait. Or, how time seems … Continue Reading…

Healing Outside Time

When you join a webinar with Dorothy Rowe, you work as a collective, structured by the group consciousness of the participants. Your role is to witness the process as best you can. The actual doing is in being, in the process of experience or devata value. Our attention activates dormant or asleep laws in consciousness itself. They’re called forth by attention and intention. They act directly to heal with the skills and intelligence needed. Resources are essentially unlimited if awareness is clear. Putting this another way, the healing capacity is always present but requires our attention and clarity to call … Continue Reading…

The Void

The ancients talked of fundamental elements whose combination lead to the forms and phenomena we see around us. For example, fire element brings light, sight, colour, heat, and so forth. The elements have associations with the senses, the chakras, and the doshas (body types) of Ayurveda. We can also associate them with the valence groups of chemistry. Deepest of the 5 elements is space or ether. Space is more a container than a substance. And yet space behaves like a medium, hence the name ether. We see a similar idea in physics where space-time is modeled as a flexible sheet. … Continue Reading…

On Dimensions

I often hear people refer to subtler layers of existence as other “dimensions.” As a dimension is a direction in space, this is a poor term to use. It also gets muddy really fast. For example, if we call the astral another dimension, we’re suggesting it’s a line, a kind of squashed Flatland, not an open space. We’d have to give it 2 more dimensions to match the physical. Same with all the other layers. And yet this implies they’re all separate spaces. It can certainly seem like subtler levels are distinct spaces (lokas or worlds) at first. This is … Continue Reading…

Predominance

For some, unfolding knowledge of the world follows the path of the mechanics of perception. For others like myself, it follows the path of the dynamics of consciousness. The 2 approaches unfold different understanding of the world. There are also variations within each. On the first path, we discover a version of what Samkhya describes. From the mind arises the 5 senses out of the observer side of consciousness. From the observed arises the corresponding 5 tanmatra or essences. The first comes out of sattva guna, the second from tamas. As the tamas (inertia) increases, those essences become the 5 Mahabhutas … Continue Reading…

Alice Down the Rabbit Hole

Peter Russell is a physicist I mention occasionally. We met at the SAND conference, but in less than desirable circumstances. On the plaza, he was confronted by someone seeking “The Answer” to all their suffering drama from “The Expert”. I stepped in and directly answered their question. But because they believed in their pain, they couldn’t accept the answer. Progress happens when we’re ready to hear. But that’s another story. Dr. Russell has background in research in consciousness. He often gives a talk on the Primacy of Consciousness. I’ve also mentioned Bernardo Kastrup’s approach. Recently, I ran into an essay … Continue Reading…
