The Void

The ancients talked of fundamental elements whose combination lead to the forms and phenomena we see around us. For example, fire element brings light, sight, colour, heat, and so forth. The elements have associations with the senses, the chakras, and the doshas (body types) of Ayurveda. We can also associate them with the valence groups of chemistry. Deepest of the 5 elements is space or ether. Space is more a container than a substance. And yet space behaves like a medium, hence the name ether. We see a similar idea in physics where space-time is modeled as a flexible sheet. … Continue Reading…

Energy and Matter

Einstein’s famous equation E=mc2 was a revolution in its day. Even today we don’t really understand it. Most people still have a strong materialist world-view, putting their faith in what they can see and touch. Many physicists seek to find particles for any style of energy they discover. Does gravity really need a particle? And yet the equation tells us that energy and matter are just different states of the same thing. If we flip the equation, we can understand it in a different way. E/c2 = m The m stands for matter, which is a “substance that has mass and … Continue Reading…

The Connected Universe

For some years, I’ve been watching the work of self-taught physicist Nassim Haramein. He’s given many seminars on his ideas and released video of them, including the 6-hour Crossing the Event Horizon. Many people have studied how to explain his ideas and more recently they’ve launched an on-line “academy” to take it further. He’s also shown up in various works like the film Thrive. Some of his ideas have been wildly speculative, like the grave of Jesus or the meaning of a comet. But the unfolding physics has been quite fascinating. As with Einstein and Buckminster Fuller, the physics is driven by … Continue Reading…

Alice Down the Rabbit Hole

Peter Russell is a physicist I mention occasionally. We met at the SAND conference, but in less than desirable circumstances. On the plaza, he was confronted by someone seeking “The Answer” to all their suffering drama from “The Expert”. I stepped in and directly answered their question. But because they believed in their pain, they couldn’t accept the answer. Progress happens when we’re ready to hear. But that’s another story. Dr. Russell has background in research in consciousness. He often gives a talk on the Primacy of Consciousness. I’ve also mentioned Bernardo Kastrup’s approach. Recently, I ran into an essay … Continue Reading…
