Curving Back

mind spiral

I’ve talked regularly of how consciousness curves back on itself, becomes self-aware, and expresses. In my talk at this years Science and Nonduality Conference, I spoke of how the layers of expression unfold from that self-interacting consciousness. But there’s another detail I also (awkwardly) touched on there.  Consciousness folds back on itself over and over. That flow of consciousness curving back on itself continues, and it folds back on itself over and over. Each folding creates a smaller and smaller infinity and density until qualities of consciousness manifest. – On the level of the bliss body, Space manifests and vibration … Continue Reading…

The Faces of Reality talk @ SAND18

SAND18

During the Science and Nonduality conference of October 2018, I spoke on the way we experience reality from the object-side of the dynamics of consciousness. This was a follow-up to the stages of enlightenment talk I gave last year. This year I had a much smaller time slot, just enough to do an overview. (That’s Rick Archer talking under the titles, mentioning our second BATGAP interview.) The talk focused on the koshas or sheathes but instead of starting with the physical body, I took a top down approach that began with consciousness and its origins. After summarizing the 7 koshas, … Continue Reading…

The Origin of the Senses, Part 2

< Part 1 Part 2 Why 5? But why are there 5 senses? Our senses are mechanisms for awareness to pick up a specific range of qualities. And actually, there is 7 senses but 2 of them are too subtle to express physical sense organs. Our world is structured in a 1 into 3 into 7 process. There are 7 koshas or primary layers of creation. There are 7 chakras or primary energy centers in our physiology, each attuned to one of those layers. And there are 7 primary sensory channels, each attuned to specific qualities, including those layers and … Continue Reading…

Predominance

For some, unfolding knowledge of the world follows the path of the mechanics of perception. For others like myself, it follows the path of the dynamics of consciousness. The 2 approaches unfold different understanding of the world. There are also variations within each. On the first path, we discover a version of what Samkhya describes. From the mind arises the 5 senses out of the observer side of consciousness. From the observed arises the corresponding 5 tanmatra or essences. The first comes out of sattva guna, the second from tamas. As the tamas (inertia) increases, those essences become the 5 Mahabhutas … Continue Reading…
