Occasionally, someone will mention their fear of silence, of self-annihilation, or of spiritual practices. Such dread isn’t a quality of silence. Silence is infinite, eternal and deeply peaceful. Alive silence is also blissful. However, that deep settledness we get in silence gives the body deep rest. That’s an opportunity for healing that can trigger purification. One type of purification is bringing old, incomplete emotions to the surface like fear. This is actually desirable. In the Big Picture

If we see our lives as small and insignificant, we may be excused for spending it on escape. If we see our efforts at spiritual progress as temporary and with limited benefit, we can be excused for drifting away. But this is thinking small. The End of Karma

One idea you run into periodically is that karma has an end. That the enlightenment process causes you to stop producing new karma, roasts the seeds of your backlog, and then you wind down the sprouted seeds. After that there is nothing to drive you back into a human incarnation when your time is done. The end of karma is the end of reincarnation. Where is the Soul?

Over the years, I’ve heard many descriptions of where in the body the soul resides. By soul, I mean the spark of our being. Some talk about it as kundalini, coiled in the root chakra and rising with the awakening process. Some as the light in the heart, although that is more the celestial than personal.
