Being and Non-Being Blue

On my About page, I make brief mention of the blue feather icon. The feather is not actually blue but rather the blue is an optical effect, a visual illusion. Turns out, the Morpho butterfly, common in butterfly exhibitions due to it’s vivid colour, uses a similar trick. In another angle on blue, it took 3 decades to figure out how to make blue LED lights (I don’t mean blue tinted covers). That discovery netted a Nobel prize. By producing the final primary colour, we could make LED & LCD TV’s, smart phone screens, light-based water sterilization, and the blend … Continue Reading…

The Connected Universe

For some years, I’ve been watching the work of self-taught physicist Nassim Haramein. He’s given many seminars on his ideas and released video of them, including the 6-hour Crossing the Event Horizon. Many people have studied how to explain his ideas and more recently they’ve launched an on-line “academy” to take it further. He’s also shown up in various works like the film Thrive. Some of his ideas have been wildly speculative, like the grave of Jesus or the meaning of a comet. But the unfolding physics has been quite fascinating. As with Einstein and Buckminster Fuller, the physics is driven by … Continue Reading…

Sound Healing

There is a profound art to sound that we have not yet rediscovered. Mantra, the study of specific sounds has largely lost the understanding of tone. There are references to it in Sanskrit but it’s clearly not understood. This may partly have been influenced by the paternalization of Sanskrit- the shift to men as the carriers of the language. Indian Ragas, melodies  which are aligned to certain times of the day or for certain effects have shifted to the easier western polyphonic scale and away from natures pure tones. The polyphonic scale calls for tones of equal frequency increments that … Continue Reading…

What Do You Amplify?

Occasionally on this site, a post attracts the angry. Mention of a teacher someone has an issue with or a subject that pushes someone’s buttons. Recently, a 6-year-old quote got someone going. The irony of the issue raised is the nature of the Internet – something I’ve written about on my other blog. The more comments about a subject you make on-line – positive or negative – the more traffic you drive to the site. This is because the search engines that drive traffic are attention driven. Nature works the same way too. If you make efforts to discount or … Continue Reading…

Just Now

In The Dawning Age, I touched on various time models and how they point to our current time. While there was some general alignment, it is certainly rough. Part of this is because the models are different. However, after listening to an unusual interview, I realized that I was thinking about this incorrectly. I was trying to apply a linear time model to something that’s not linear. As the interviewee observes, our cultural habits run deep. Amongst a gamut of things, Chris LaDue touches on how the Mayan calendar is not about linear time but rather a more circular, feminine … Continue Reading…

Highest First

In a discussion over on You Are Truly Loved, Ariel was talking about teleportation and the nature of illusion. Marko emphasized putting Oneness first and how exotic experiences may be mistakenly substituted for deep peace. Everyone agreed but this is such an important point, I wanted to touch on it here. There’s an old saying, “Flash is Trash“. Any value of experience is illusion and thus not the goal. That said, we have to use the means we have to get there. We have to use illusion to come to reality. The whole character of Maya changes with the evolution … Continue Reading…

The evolving Scribe

It’s quite interesting to note how writing is evolving. When I was young, my poor handwriting and spelling categorized me as a poor writer. While I still have those qualities, the technology of writing is evolving so handwriting and spelling are no longer obstacles. Indeed, my children have been expected to submit all assignments word processed. Basic computer skills have become more important than handwriting. Calligraphy has become more about good font tools. The computer takes care of spelling (mostly) – I even have a browser add-in to check my spelling in boxes like this. (laughs) One downfall of poor … Continue Reading…

Eckhart on Oprah

As you have undoubtedly heard, Oprah has created a little history. Breaking out of her book club mold of recommending fiction and memoirs, she recommended a self-help book, Eckhart Tolle’s A New Earth. Then she decided to develop a free 10 part online course, reviewing each chapter with Tolle. Tolle doesn’t usually do TV as its too short a format to explain it properly. Over 700,000 people registered. “Monday night’s webcast was one of the largest single online events in the history of the Internet. More than 500,000 people simultaneously logged on to watch Oprah Winfrey and Eckhart Tolle live, … Continue Reading…

Evolution of technology and conciousness

One of the speakers at the recent IONS (Noetics) conference was Steven Vedro (www.srvedro.com), author of Digital Dharma (Quest Books). His blog covers some of the content and his view of the evolution of technology reflecting the evolution of consciousness, relating it to the 7 chakras or energy centers. http://teleconsciousness.blogspot.com/ It also mentions some of his talks, but not the local one: Steve will have an Author Talk and Book Signing Saturday, October 20, from 3 to 4:30pm at the Ayurveda Centre, 3636 W. 4th Ave., Vancouver “There is an electronic web pulsing around us which can be viewed as … Continue Reading…
