Eckhart on Oprah 9

Eckhart on Oprah 9

Finally had a chance to watch the 9th class of Eckhart on Oprah, this one on Purpose. Here are a few notes. There is no substitute for finding your purpose. There are 2 purposes: Outer Purpose: about the future, your work, etc. It is secondary. Inner Purpose: to be here, now. Same for everyone, always fully with the present moment. Fulfillment and satisfaction are only found now. Be totally doing it, what you are doing right now. This one step, give it your best. Then the next moment comes at its best. There is always only this one step, the … Continue Reading…

Greatful

Gratitude is a skill we’ve not been well taught in the west. Perhaps as a child, we were taught to respect our elders, to say thank you, and say grace before dinner. Thanks was a kind of conditional thing, laid on to be polite or ‘nice’ or even because it was simply demanded. We may have come to associate gratitude with subservience. In the east, people were often raised to choose a personal god or deity that they favor for their expressions of gratitude. The greeting Namaste means ‘I bow to the divine in you’. God is everywhere. But even … Continue Reading…

Deepest Being

Back on the post How Deep?, I asked if it was going too deep to try and define what gives rise to existence in a blog format like this. In comments here and over at Takuin.com, it became apparent the real issue is if one can offer clarity in a short article. Certainly there are those sutras of wisdom like ‘All this is That’ or ‘everything is Being’. They offer clarity in the moment but not a framework with which to understand the world we experience. A context that can satisfy the mind to get it out of the way. … Continue Reading…

Group Think or Group Be

Recent discussions here illuminate something to consider, the role of the group. During the process of awakening, we lose the sense of ego, the pain body, then the whole sense of identity. The whole idea of person ceases to be. Prior to full awakening, we still have a sense of identity so still think of ourselves as individuals. In doing so we lose sight of the group, of our role in our “area cluster”. Rupert Sheldrake is a British scientist exploring human potential, including systematic study of psychic abilities. He has proposed the concept of “Morphic fields”, basically energy fields … Continue Reading…

Perspectives Overview

When I hear many speakers talk about higher awareness or expanded perception, they often talk about several different states but don’t differentiate them. The result for many people is a muddling together of ideas of Oneness, waking, self-actualization, and God realization. Kind of lumping it together with no context for the process. Human growth and development is a process. A path. A continuum. A process of opening. While there are certain markers or apparent stages, any division of the path is arbitrary, just as we might measure a road in miles, kilometers, or chains. But without some sort of gauge, … Continue Reading…

Moses Code, part 2

A couple of months ago, I mentioned the upcoming film, The Moses Code. It opened today in a showing at a local church here. (and many other places) The place was packed. What is the Moses Code? A comma. Really. It is a simple, slightly new understanding about the story, and message, of Moses. I won’t explain. They do a better job. Illustrious cast, including Micheal Beckwith, Joe Dispensa, Debbie Ford, Neale Donald Walsch, Mary Manin Morrissey, Gregg Braden, and many others known and less known. And of course, James Twyman. And they really do take the ideas of The … Continue Reading…
