Awakening The Body

Awakening The Body

As I wrote about back on Melting the Body, the process of purification and clarity moves from our becoming a good reflector of consciousness into the mind, senses, emotions, then physical body.

Enlightenment is just the beginning. As that awakening becomes more embodied, the laws of nature that create the appearance of this physical form are also awakened. They then shift from having a fixed, rigid role to becoming more fluid.

Apparently, Sri Aurobindo spoke of waking the bodies cells. I suspect he was referring to the same thing.

While they still sustain this body, those devata (laws of nature) are no longer restricted to an individual person. They regain their cosmic nature and universal reality as the flows of qualities of the divine. Instead of embodying a person, they embody the divine.

Just consider the difference between an apparent individual awakening and all the many subcomponents of that also waking up. As this happens cosmically, the influence continues to expand. It leads to a fluidity that can adjust appearance on demand. Recently Lorne Hoff spoke of the laws of nature adjusting to the person we’re with, for example.

To one perspective, this awakening of all points means awakening the world. The body is the world. To another perspective, consciousness is already fully awake so it is only embodying that.

This reminds me of a theme in the film Lucy. While the movie is quite violent, underlying the story is what happens when you unlock more and more of your brains potential. As the brain is just a receiver for mind, and mind is the lively surface of consciousness, it’s more a question of what happens when we unlock more of our natural potential.

    1. Hi N
Well, this is somewhat akin to empath gifts where we may tend to take on the thinking or emotions of those around us.

Only this is on the deeper level of the laws themselves and would be more conscious. This would be advantageous for teachers, counselors, healers and so forth.

Of course, these are very broad statements . I’m pointing to possibilities. I don’t know anyone who’s living this in an overt way yet nor how long it will take to develop. But I’ve seen enough to know it’s going on. Several I know have been talking about it too.

Keep in mind the body is the last to catch up as it’s the most rigid and solid.

          1. As a followup…

Keep in mind, this article is more speculative. I’m seeing the process here and with some friends, but it’s pretty early on yet, I think. So you have to be careful not to extrapolate consequences too much.

As we get further along, resonance expands to be more and more inclusive. However, there will always be basic styles, like devotional or intellectual, that will helpful for some and not others.

Also, while I used the Empath example, thats still not it. The oneness of empath gifts is on the level of the gift. (mind, emotions, or whatever) The oneness of Unity is on the level of consciousness itself, our very being. It’s much deeper.

I’d also say that experiences of Unity are not Unity, like being King for a day does not include the mantle of being King. A taste perhaps but not it.

    Hi David,

Your post reminds me of Dogen’s poem:

The real person is not anyone in particular,
But like the deep blue color of the limitless sky
It is everyone, everywhere in the world.

Not only are we not the limited form – we are the limitless, which is so free that it can choose to be limited. 🙂

    1. Beautiful, Blanche

And yes. First that happens in consciousness. Then it moves forward to include the body itself.

Your quote reminds me of this:

I hear beyond the range of sound,
I see beyond the range of sight,
New earths and skies and seas around,
And in my day the sun doth pale in his light.
      ― Henry David Thoreau, Inspiration

(the context here is quite different though)

      1. although I’ve never noticed anything in creation thats beyond perception, if you bring it your attention. (laughs)

Perhaps the meaning is beyond what has been perceived because there’s only so much of infinity that you can browse. 🙂

    1. “Extreme unity” – well theres a term! 🙂

In well-developed Unity, we come to know consciousness globally and at every point. A complete wholeness we might say. That sets the stage for the next shift.

But perception only goes where we take the focus of attention so is more limited.

    Maybe of interest….

There are very secret daoist and Indian alchemical sects that have as their main practices the invoking of “gods” in their bodies through rituals, Special prayers etc. And then let these “gods” do the work of total purification, activation, transformation and Transmutation up to the divine Body of light.

    1. Hi Michael
Yes, I’ve heard some about that. Such things would have to be prepared for and done very carefully as the consequences can be considerable.

If the invoked are not compatible with your dominant laws of nature, for example, or current cycles of time…

The examples I’ve seen have lead to a much rougher process. I cringe when I see people invoking the goddess of death.

    2. Actually, it’s a pretty widespread issue in western spiritual circles. It’s one thing to have a picture of your teacher. It’s a whole other thing to have images of various gods, etc.

And those little castings with distorted features?

In the eastern traditions, you have to show regular and appropriate respect for such things. Using them as decoration may not bring the desired effects.

    Here, here…

Not “the body itself is a disease” (Ramana Maharshi),
but “the body is a magic door” (Eligio Stephen Gallegos)

the forgotten, left behind, spirituality of matter (consciousness as matter, the Sleeping Beauty), what you appreciate, appreciates”..? Indeed, the real wealth of this word, affecting the other layers of awareness (double direction: according to the Kabalists)/

    1. Interesting article.

The world and body are illusions if we see them as real unto themselves. As such a materialist paradigm weakens science and aspects of a typical western worldview.

Part of the spiritual process can be to smash our identifications with physical reality. But this isn’t the end of the process, it’s just a form of liberation. Then the higher nature of life can be lived trough what is here. All of it can wake up – not just the apparent separate person.

As a teacher said last weekend, the world is the climax of all the subtler processes. It has profound value and purpose. But it’s very difficult for that to unfold if we’re bound to it or rejecting it.

And yes, it’s fully interactive/ 2 way/ multi way. Our actions in the world reverberate through all of it. The eastern models talk about it in a number of ways like the inward flow of consciousness/ Shiva into it’s own nature and the outward flow of Shakti into greater expression.

Thank you. I just want to add that the mystery school of A. H. Almaas reports many that have awakened…and the beginning of it all was healing the blockages of the physical body ( Wilhem Reich therapy). From there, everything began to unfold…

According to Peter Kingsley, there is an ancient transmission Tibet/Mongolia/ancient Greeks that begins focusing in the senses. (Diamond Approach was impacted by Tibetan transmissions…)

        1. Hi Uli
I’ve met A.H. Almaas through SAND but have not explored that approach.

Here, what I recommend to start is a technique for samadhi. This helps clear the air and connect to source. That gives a deeper platform for healing and getting to the root of issues.

So much of healing is dealing with superficial symptoms which doesn’t resolve them.

          1. Uli

Faisal Muqaddam – co-developer of the Diamond Approach transmissions – describes how working deeply in the physical body(Wilhem Reich therapy approach) ignited the process….

            1. Right – but if you don’t have the stable platform of source within, that process will be rougher.

Remember that the body is the end result of inner processes. It can be used to reflect and mirror inner and collective processes and thus get to the source of issues.

But if we’re only working on the level of the body, much of what needs purification will remain. This is like many modern yoga studios. They can help with physical wellness but you’re not going to see people waking up there.

Subtle differences in technique have a huge difference in results.

              1. Uli

..and the process is even rougher, with the risky potential of abuse of others (as we keep seeing), if the person awakening (and becoming a teacher) dismisses the physical body, and doesn’t address his/her emotional issues. The physical body doesn’t lie: it holds the memory of the trauma, as we know from Judith Blackstone and other spiritual practitioners/therapists. Thus, avoiding lots of disastrous pitfalls, like hidden emotional issues become amplified with the rising of pranic energy. In sum, a more holistic, balanced, awakening. I see that as part of the waning of the paternalistic view.

Well worth the effort, even more, from a devotional view…

                1. To be clear, I mean the inner process is rougher if there isn’t a stable platform.

Ignoring the body and emotions may not make the inner process rougher but it will certainly cause problems in the world. Increased inner power expressing through shadows and trauma is a recipe for disaster.

So yes, I agree a balanced approach is ideal.

To some extent this is also people starting to teach too soon. Then paternalism becomes an easy excuse for abuse of power. I have been pleased to see a great deal more talk about the heart, embodiment, and so forth coming up.

              2. Uli

…that’s true, David, many half baked chicken too soon out of the oven, and messing around 🙂 …but there is a ever expanding list of gurus and guru-like figures of different traditions (not only Eastern, but also Western) exposed for their abuse – in recent months, weeks). That would seems like another effect of this exciting process you are documenting with exquisite detail. One of the effects, the waning of the “paternalist” system , as you call it. It calls to my mind more and more this article by Charles Eisenstein – wrote 8 years ago.
                https://charleseisenstein.org/essays/why-the-age-of-the-guru-is-over/

If the collective awakening is accelerating – and I’ve found a growing consensus from different teachers of very different paths: the progressive thinning of the veil, so to speak, so it would be easier and easier for circles of “human points of consciousness 😉 to ignite, evoke stronger fields, and so on… just a sharing 😉

                1. Hi Uli
I suspect we’ll see yet more to come.

I would not say the age of the guru is over but rather the age of people playing the role. There can still be value in someone ahead of us on the path pointing the way. But there is little value in charismatic figureheads that attract followers and dependency.

Agreed. The rising tide is also going to bring forward souls with profound and unanticipated gifts. This will accelerate it further… 🙂
