The Ramayana

The Ramayana

The epic story of Rama has recently come up in several ways. The wise have suggested the story is playing out on the global stage right now. Ravana (ego)(& a certain past president) has captured and imprisoned Sita (finest feelings). But now Hanuman has come to Sita to give her hope – Rama is coming to rescue her. In early December, Rama became invincible. The battle has not yet come but the defeat has already happened.

Although Shiva arises from the Divine Mother, the Divine Mother requires Shiva and the resulting knowledge of silence before she can act.

The fine feeling of the mother relies on the invincibility of the father. The rise of finer feelings on the global level is a powerful indicator. This has not been present for thousands of years. But not enough have awakened yet to fully sustain this, hence the need mentioned for vigilance.

This will control the speed and depth of the rising age.

From a different angle, an animated film “Sita Sings The Blues” has been released.

“Sita is a goddess separated from her beloved Lord and husband Rama. Nina is an animator whose husband moves to India, then dumps her by e-mail. Three hilarious shadow puppets narrate both ancient tragedy and modern comedy in this beautifully animated interpretation of the Indian epic Ramayana. Set to the 1920’s jazz vocals of Annette Hanshaw, Sita Sings the Blues earns its tagline as “The Greatest Break-Up Story Ever Told.”   Duration: 1′ 21″

The movie was made at home over a period of 5 years on a Mac computer. It includes voice over narration by Indians, discussing their understanding of the epic. The combined layering of the story results it a unique, humorous and insightful telling of the classic tale.

As the artist, I want the highest quality versions to circulate; it’d be sad if a super-compressed capture started torrenting first. Together, we can keep quality high!

This month, a local art house theatre is showing the film several times. Yesterday, they showed some of her early shorts as well. I saw a few elements and techniques that carried forward, as well as her wit.

Sadly, it looks like the remarkable film has not gotten distribution so will only been seen in a proper theatre in a few places. Glad I was able to see it on the big screen and thanks to the internet, it will at least be seen.

The film is being released on Amazon.com July 28th.

Given that a full HD quality version is just a bit above the 4 GB limit of Windows XP, this is a good thing. It also means way more eyes may stumble across the work.

Wishing her the best to get it out there…
