thoughts on Karma

From another discussion… Karma is a word that has a lot of noise attached to it. There is nothing to believe about karma. It simply means action. And as we all know for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. So its all about balance of energy. The principles of action are very simple but the dynamics get very complex very quickly. Everything that “happens” interplays with everything else. Hence it is described as ‘unfathomable’. You can’t figure it out. But if you follow the basic principles, it will help make things smoother. The function of our mind … Continue Reading…

The Witness

“Your Witness You may not have ever considered this truth – there is always a part of you that watches how your personality lives life. It’s always noticing! You are aware of this witness when you do something like overreacting to what someone says or you are on a diet and you notice yourself opening the fridge door to finish that piece of cake. Part of you knows you shouldn’t but you do it anyway. There is always this witness, the mind of your higher self that notices how you relate to life. Perhaps you have watched yourself engaged in … Continue Reading…

The Question

Q: I’ve been feeling kind of fractured lately. What would you suggest? A: Seek the peace within. Q: The piece within? A: Yes, the peace. It is within you. Q: The piece is a part of me? A: Exactly. Q: How can I find this piece? A: Look within, to your true Self. It is peace. Q: Myself is a piece? A: Yes, a peace without limits. Q: My piece has no limits? A: Yes. That is another way you can know it. Q: What about the other pieces? A: There is only one true peace. All others are a … Continue Reading…

Psychoenergetics

ORBS: ARE THEY A PSYCHOENERGETIC PHENOMENON? By William A. Tiller, Ph.D. [Professor Emeritus of Materials Science, Stanford University]             Psychoenergetic science is traditional science expanded to incorporate human consciousness as a significant experimental variable. This is because today’s quantum mechanical paradigm, as it is presently formalized, is totally incapable of dealing with any psychoenergetic process and humans are all about such processes. From our past 10 years of psychoenergetic science research, the items relevant to this lecture are the following: 1.      Most importantly, we have discovered that there are two unique levels of … Continue Reading…

Commitment

A few days ago, I wanted to blog about commitment but didn’t get to it. (irony) Then I heard a talk on how such ideas were just the ego, wanting or not wanting to engage. But it does lead to a deeper thought on the concept. Commitment really speaks to our role in the world and to relationship. What are we committed to? To ourselves, to our obligations, to the bigger picture?  As Yoda famously said, Do or don’t do, there is no try. Sometimes we have this idea that if we don’t decide, we don’t commit, it may work … Continue Reading…

Memories…

“Memories, like the corners of my mind Memories Misty watercolor memories Of the way we were Scattered pictures of the smiles we left behind Smiles we gave to one another For the way we were” — Gladys Knight & The Pips, The Way we Were Put another way, memories are the patterns in our mind, put down by our response to our experiences. They are the structure of our individual reality. This is why so many live in the past. Or the dreams of the future, extrapolating those memories. Note also how they are internalized. We remember what we consider … Continue Reading…

Simple Life

No, I don’t mean the TV show. I’m talking about the satisfying life, well considered. For many of us in North America, we’ve fallen into the cultural trap of consumerism.  Our culture is awash in images of the impossibly thin, rich, and perfect. Our heros have become examples of excess and despair. Sometimes, life throws us a curve. A challenge. And a place where we can stop and smell the roses. Reconsider what is important for us and who we really are. Are we condemed to run the rat race to buy ever more consumer goods, chasing a false God … Continue Reading…

What is real?

This was part of a discussion on what is real. The way I see goes like this. We are consciousness. Pure, unbounded, silent, transparent consciousness. The only reason this is hard to grasp is that we try to experience it in our habitual ways – through the mind & senses. But how can something silent and transparent be perceived?  It cannot. We can only remember it. We are That. Consciousness, being everywhere, experiences Itself. The process of that experience creates mind. A field created by the relationship of Self with Itself. Note that the mind is not the subject nor … Continue Reading…

Sufficiency

“The biggest, most unquestioned answer of our culture is our relationship with money. It is there that we keep alive–at a high cost–the flame and mythology of scarcity.” — Lynne Twist, author of the unexpected “Soul of Money” Lynne has been a long time fund raiser for charities like the Hunger Project and has worked with the very, very poor and the very, very rich. Most suffer from the same illusions of scarcity. In her book she outlines the 3 toxic myths of scarcity: 1) Theres not Enough 2) More is Better 3) Thats Just the Way it Is She … Continue Reading…
