An interesting article in the Washington Post on perception, expectation, and context. They took one of the world’s most famous musicians, playing one of the most valuable violins in the world, and had him busk before a morning rush hour crowd. (laughs) Talk about worse case.
When I was young, I explored some of these same questions with hidden cameras. Creating ‘circumstances’ on city streets to see how passers-by respond. The most helpful were street people. Coming across experiences out of context best illustrates how self absorbed we can be. How dominated we are by perception and expectation.
